06-13 January, 2007 Bigger than Barbie starts this year’s travels at the Scandinavian Film Festival in the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. It is one of three Norwegian contributions to the festival, and the only Norwegian documentary being screened there.

Bigger than Barbie is being screened in Puerto Rico at Deepak Chopra’s conference, “Alliance for a New Humanity”. Around 600 attendees will participate from around the world, amongst them the Nobel Peace laureates Rigoberta Menchu and Betty Williams. The theme is “Faces of Courage” and the founder of Monkeybiz, Barbara Jackson, has been invited to give a speech.

Bigger than Barbie gets a two-page spread in the Norwegian national newspaper, VG. The article gives the story of Monkeybiz and it mentions the link between the project and the other contributors in the film, like Desmond Tutu, Donna Karan and Annie Lennox.
